Famed for its properties both as an insulator and a binding agent, asbestos was widely used across NJ and the rest of the world. However, due to later determinations about its carcinogenic effects, its usage stopped and it was mostly removed from building sites. However, many homes in New Jersey still have asbestos siding boards.
